Industrial sodium nitrite

The chemical formula of sodium nitrite is NaNO2, and the oxidation number of nitrogen is + III. The crystal is colorless or yellow, the relative density is 2.168 (0°C), the melting point is 271°C, and it decomposes at 320°C. It is soluble in water, and its aqueous solution is alkaline due to the hydrolysis of nitrite. Sodium nitrite has oxidizing and reducing properties, mainly oxidizing. It is mainly oxidized in acidic solutions and reduced in alkaline solutions or strong oxidants. It may burn or explode due to friction or impact with sulfur, phosphorus and organic matter. When sodium nitrite is placed in the air, it can react with oxygen to gradually form sodium nitrate.

Industrially used sodium nitrite is used to produce ice dyes, sulfide dyes, direct dyes, acid dyes, disperse dyes, basic dyes, dyeing auxiliaries and H pore formers. It is also used to produce aminoazobenzene, p-aminophenol and other intermediates. It is also used to produce organic pigments, such as silver pearl R, bright red, scarlet powder, candle red, toluidine violet, scarlet lake, lisol scarlet, purple sauce color CK paste, etc. The pharmaceutical industry is used to produce pyrimidine, aminopyrimidine, etc. Used in the production of vanillin. Used to bleach silk and linen. A mordant for fabric dyeing. It is also used as a corrosion inhibitor for metal heat treatment and electroplating. Used in cutting oil, lubricating oil, antifreeze and hydraulic system.
