Potassium bisulfite for food is also called potassium bisulfite for food. It is an inorganic chemical product with a molecular formula of KHSO3 and a molecular weight of 120.17.

The synthesis method is to send SO2 into a cold saturated aqueous potassium carbonate solution until no CO2 is produced and the solution becomes acidic. During operation, it should be cooled sufficiently and attention should be paid to air isolation. By adding approximately the same amount of ethanol to the concentrated aqueous solution prepared in the above operation, a large amount of potassium bisulfite crystals can be precipitated. The crystals were filtered and washed with ethanol, then placed on filter paper and dried in a stream of nitrogen.

The appearance of potassium bisulfite is white crystalline powder. It has strong reducing properties and will gradually be oxidized to sulfate in the air. When heated to 190°C, potassium bisulfite is soluble in water but insoluble in ethanol.

Potassium bisulfite can be completely ionized. In addition to lead acetate and mercury chloride, other salts can also be fully ionized in the high and medium range, and they are all strong electrolytes. Storage method: Store in a cool and ventilated place. It is stored and transported separately from oxidants and alkalis. If contact with skin (eyes), please rinse with running water.
